Dental and Vision Insurance

Medicare doesn't cover routine dental or vision care, and typically only covers dental or vision care as part of an underlying condition or related to emergency treatment. There are plans that cover dental and vision.

Dental
Unfortunately, Original Medicare (Parts A and B) does not include coverage for services like dental exams, cleanings, fillings, crowns, bridges, plates or dentures. There are some exceptions, such as when a hospital stay is involved, but otherwise, you would have to pay out of pocket for any routine dental services. For some of us, those expenses could add up quickly.

There are ways for seniors to get Dental Insurance.

Choose a Medicare Advantage plan. Some Medicare Advantage plans (Part C) include benefits like routine dental. There are quite a few plans to choose from, with a wide range of premiums and coverage options.

Private HMO and PPO Dental Insurance plans are also available.

Vision
Original Medicare does not cover Vision Insurance. There are affordable vision plans loaded with valuable benefits, at low monthly premiums. These plans can include annual vision exam and yearly allowance toward contact lenses or a set of eyeglasses.
